Kyle (Hoss) is a 8 month old puppy, an irresistably lovable collie/beagle/shepherd mix. He is very submissive, loves everyone he meets and just loves playing with all his foster brothers and sisters.
We had adopted him into a family with (3) small children since he seemed to really love children. He was returned recently because the family said he was nipping at the kids. He wasn't biting, just playing with them as if they were brother and sister dogs! So for his sake, we will NOT be adopting him into a family with small kids as before. As with all L&F dogs, he is neutered, micro-chipped, up to date with all their shots, de-wormed and potty & crate trained.
L&F policy: Puppies must be adopted to families with backyards and that IS mandatory if there are children involved. To me, you can't have a puppy/dog and kids --- without a fenced in yard so they can play ball and grow up together in the backyard. Invisible Fence is acceptable, and the company does offer a special where they will install a fence with their lifetime collar for $699.00 when you adopt a rescue pup/dog.
November 9, 2005- This boy is such an enormous sweetheart! Even with moving from home to home , he's still sooo good. No problem with even our alpha male, no problems with the cats, well trained on the invisible fence, and friendly and cuddly wih everyone. Within minutes my daughter was already in love and it's mutual. She's calling him Kyle because he deserves a "pretty-boy" name because that's what he is. He is so soft, so handsome, so gentle, and won't get very big. What more could you want!
November 6, 2005- From Hoss's foster mom:
This little guy is pure joy. He is so calm and you'd have to go a long way to find a more gentle pup. And he is a trusting little guy which speaks volumes for what he may have been through at the hands of lots of little kids! I have personally raised several pups into adulthood and I know this about "nipping" behavior: Pups outgrow it! And depending on the environment the pup is in, it may be sooner or a bit later. Since Hoss has been here with me, I haven't seen him nip once! He is playful though and it is so much fun to watch him romp around with the other dogs. This little guy has all of the best characteristics of the breeds he appears to represent. He is going to stay on the smaller side - he weighs 30 lbs now and he probably won't get much bigger. He already knows sit and he's housebroken! Because he is a such a fast learner and his nature is so sweet, he might make a wonderful therapy dog. But in any case, the family who adopts Hoss will have a life long friend and companion. Please come out to our next Mingle with Mutts Saturday November 12, 2005 and meet Hoss. He needs the right person or family who will be willing to make a long term commitment to this little guy. He deserves a loving family and his forever home. Could that be you?
