UPDATE: Scarlet will be starting her new life off with her new sister Sophie
who is also a L&F shelter kid. Her new Mommy has been looking for over a year for the right match and now we have it. We are happy for both our little girls!

Our little Miss Scarlett is rightly named. Coming from South Carolina, She is a gentle southern lady! Though skittish at first, you can tell she wants to love you and be petted and kissed when she starts wagging her tail which causes her whole body to wiggle back and forth like a slinky.
She REALLY comes to life when she plays with another dog, especially a male (always the southern belle), she flirts and plays with abandon. She LOVES toys, but loves to share with her dog friends.After a good time, it is time to curl up on your lap for a snuggle, and I mean a SNUGGLE! She can't get any closer to you. What a gentle loving little girl. She will make great companion in a quiet home with someone to love and another doggie to play with.
UPDATE: We are blessed to be able to say that our little Scarlett was rescued
by a nice lady today after she ran away
from her transporters. Thankfully she was microchipped so they knew who she belonged to. It was a GOOD day in rescue!
Very Bad news --- this little one got away from the people on the transport. She ran off. Since we never know their real names when they are strays, they certainly don't come like a normal dog would. There are people trying to find her in Fredrickburg VA. We can only pray they will find her safe and sound.
PLEASE NOTE: All pups/dogs adopted through L&F Dog Rescue will be provided with FREE BOARDING this summer when their families go on vacation.

This tiny (15 pounds)little Doxie mix is on her way from VA to DE this Saturday 06-23-07.
We're told she is a sweet, calm, and gentle little one who is very confused at to why she ended up in a high kill shelter in VA that still gasses dogs in the most inhumane way. We are lucky to have been able to get her out of there.
She will need to be spayed and brought up to date with her shots, then spend a few weeks in foster care so we can evaluate her.
She will be ready to go home around July 14th. We will be accepting applications but please read our adoption policies prior to filling out our adoption application.
All puppies/dogs adopted will be provided FREE BOARDING while their families are on vacation.
If qualified you need to register at our website -- you'll be sent a password, then you can access our adoption application.
Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Electric Fence. We recommend www.petstop.com
We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up
All L&F dogs/pups have been:
Temperament tested and has been chosen for having sweet, gentle dispositions.
House Trained & Crate Trained - paper trained if pups
Lives in foster homes with families.
Already SPAYED/NEUTERED
(pups under 5 months must be prepaid)
Microchipped
Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia
On Interceptor (Heartworm medication) & Frontline Plus (for the duration of their stay with us) - Plus they go with a one month supply of both
Complete series of Distemper, Parvo vaccines and Rabies.

If you would like to fill out an application, you must first register on the website and await an e-mailed passcode. Once you have this info, you will be able to access our application.
We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.
