02-28-06 - My sweet little girl went home with her new family tonight. She just charmed them as she always does and even made her new 4 legged brother Harley smile. She has a new Mom & Dad and 2 - 2 legged brothers and a wonderful new life ahead of her. I will miss her very much, she has been such a huge part of my life these last few months.

02/26/06 Look at these pictures of sweet little Hailey! She has been such a joy this weekend. She has a wonderful nature - so kind and loving. We went to the park and played. She also had great fun playing when we went to a fenced in area. We were careful with her because of her previous leg injury but that certainly doesn't stop her from running and playing! We were pleasantly surprised at how playful she is. She is very social and welcomes everyone coming over to visit. Her size of 37 lbs makes her the perfect size dog, not too big to still snuggle up on your lap!

02/25/06 Hailey played with all the dogs and welcomed all the adults and kids that came to the Mingle. Although she LOVES kids of all ages, the hip that was operated on will always be more prone to reinjury, and we are worried that with young children, or a family with many children, she may overextend herself.

Hailey is a 1 year Terrier/Lab mix that came to us from a shelter in Indiana. She was hit by a car and we found she has a severely damaged knee and a fractured hip. She had her surgery and has made a good recovery.

However, her knee and hip had terrible breaks so we need to place her in a home where she will have to live a life of being "careful" not to run and fall too much, and worse case - re-break her knee or hip.

She is a darling, sweet gentle girl who just LOVES people and kids. However, we can not place her with small children because again we are afraid she may become re-injured. NO kids under 12 for her sake.

Hailey is a very special girl and will need a very special family to commit to loving her for the rest of her life.

She gets along with dogs wonderfully but NO KITTIES for Hailey -- she did chase a cat and broke it's tail. She didn't mean to hurt it, but wants to play with them like she plays with dogs, which is way too rough to be safe for cats.

We at at L&F thank you and so do these poor creatures!
All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet, gentle dispositions, and are living in foster homes with families. They each have had the following:

SPAYED/NEUTERED

Microchipped

Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia

On HeartGuard & Frontline Plus (as long as they are with us)

Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines.

Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough

Two De-Wormings

PLEASE NOTE: Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either physical or Electric Fence IF there are children in the home.

If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website and they have promised to send us a donation to help our rescue work.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We have several petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

www.homesweethomepetsit.org/ in PA & DE

www.delawarepooperscoopers.com in PA, NJ, & DE

http://www.tlcpetsitting.net/ in MD
